Today I have decided to start reading the Bible. I've been a "Christian" my entire life, but have never read the Bible. I spent several years in church not paying attention and many years out of church, also not paying attention.
Here is what I believe.
God is God.
Jesus is the son of God.
Jesus died on the cross for my sins.
Because He died, I may now live.
Jesus is my savior.
Because I believe this, I will go to Heaven for all eternity when I die.
I will say right now I'm not a fan of religion. My best friend is Mormon which is something my mother is completely opposed to. I attended Southern Baptist churches for years and they did not make me happy.
My sister currently attends Church on The Move and other members of my family attend a Pentecostal church. At this moment I do not have a church in mind that I would like to attend. One of my hopes from reading the Bible is that a desire will grow in me to find a church family. I am currently a member of Victory Christian Center, although I have not attended in quite some time.
I'm not sure where in the Bible to begin reading. The logical place to start is the beginning, although a huge part of me would like to start with the New Testament. However, for the sake of this blog I think I will go ahead and start in Genesis.
For the time being this blog will be private. Although if all goes according to plan, I will invite others to read as well. This is something I know I will want to share with those I love. The only reason I'm keeping it private for now is because I have a history of not following through with things. I want to make sure I can follow through with this before I announce it.
